VERANDA'S HOUSE OF WINDSOR: NEW HOME TO GWYNETH PALTROW AND CHRIS MARTIN --- OLD July 06 2012, 1 Comment

In 2011 Veranda magazine partnered with famed architect and interior designer Windsor Smith for the total design of a contemporary mansion in Los Angeles.   Nine other top interior designers participated in the interior design portion and the result is a spectacular 8300 square-foot federal style show house known as the House of Windsor.  It's recently been reported that actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin just purchased the home for an estimated 10.45 million dollars.  The house is amazing.  It has all of the luxury and glamour that you would expect with a relaxed feeling that works for a family home.  Here are some images.

Kitchen designed by Windsor Smith.  I like the stainless steel open shelving and finish on the cabinetry.  The eclectic mix of dining chairs and pleated pendant lights bring warmth into the space.

Family Room designed by Windsor Smith.  The colors in the upholstery fabrics are pulled from the large art piece and are so soothing against a crisp white backdrop.  The antique pilasters are a nice addition.

Master Bedroom designed by Candace Barnes.  Her color palette of taupe, cream, brown and green were all taken from the outdoor view.

Master Bath designed by Candace Barnes.  This is a fabulous space and you really need to see the 360 degree virtual tour to appreciate it.  You can see it Here.

Great Room designed by Richard Shapiro.  The chandelier is stunning, again the virtual tour is a must for this room.  Check it out Here.

Dining Room designed by Richard Hallberg.  The heringbone wood floors are beautiful.

Entry Hall designed by Windsor Smith.  It goes straight through from the front courtyard to the back courtyard.  Perfect for guests entering for an outdoor party.

Teenager's Room designed by Tara Shaw.

Stable designed by Kathryn M. Ireland.  Her concept was to make this space a getaway from the main house maybe to be used as an art studio...

Here are some images from Windsor Smith's portfolio.  I'm a big fan of how she balances crisp whites and deep dark tones like navy and black accented with golds and silvers.  She brings the drama and keeps it cozy.
