BEFORE AND AFTER: LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER FROM DRAB TO FAB! February 13 2013, 0 Comments

I love looking at before and after interior design projects.  Many times color is the main element to transforming a space and bringing it to life.  This living room makeover was featured in Country Living magazine and it definitely brings the wow factor.  Let's take a look.

BEFORE: (PRETTY BAD)

The dark ceiling beams and trim, drab mis-matched furniture and outdated window verticals are going nowhere here.  The poor placement of  furniture items and multiple cabinetry pieces within the space add to the sense of confusion.

AFTER: (LOVE IT)!

The ceiling beams and trim were painted a soft grey which really work with the creamy white ceiling and wall colors and the ceiling appears higher.  A built in window seat and  fresh roman window shade transform the corner of the room.  Heavy cabinetry pieces were replaced with  console, coffee and end tables with open bases which create a feeling of lightness.  The white pendant light and soft pastel rug finish the space off perfectly.  A good design tip to remember is not to have too many furniture items with legs in one sitting area.  In the before photo you can see that all of the items have legs and the after photo reveals a combination of a skirted slip covered sofa and a bergere chair with legs to create a sense of balance.
