Cottage Style Design Inspiration April 08 2013, 0 Comments
One of my favorite go to blogs for design inspiration is The Lettered Cottage. Kevin and Layla Palmer document their experiences renovating and redesigning the homes that they live in. They not only share amazing room by room before and after images as they tackle each project to achieve their vision, but also include instructional videos, helpful hints and source the building products they are using. Here are some images of the work they did to their Alabama home before their recent move in October of this past year.
Their bright and cheery master bedroom.
A close up of some of the repainting and distressing techniques they apply to vintage flea market finds.
A 6x6 nook that they turned into a reading room. They weren't entirely satisfied with the final result so they made a second attempt at bringing the design of this space up a notch. (see below).
I love the accent wall of reclaimed floor boards and the white painted board and batten walls next to it. The built in storage space below the daybed is so smart and looks great.
Their cottage kitchen featuring a wrap around chalkboard wall.
It's all in the details.
Their chalkboard wall of art is everchanging.
This is a combination guest bedroom and office space for Kevin.
The desk was custom designed and built together with a friend.
Kevin and Layla are currently working on renovating their new home in the country and I'm so looking forward to see what fresh ideas they come up with next. In the meantime, you can check out their blog here.
